Andrew Malloy, a New Hampshire native, attended the University of Massachusetts graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He continued his education at The Juilliard School where he received a Master of Music in Performance. He lived in Los Angeles where he worked as an active freelance musician for 40 years. As a studio player he recorded hundreds of film scores as well as TV shows and commercials. He performed as a regular member of the Pasadena, Santa Barbara, and New West Symphonies and The Crown City Brass Quintet. In addition, he worked with most of the leading musical organizations in the Los Angeles area: Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and Long Beach Symphony. He taught trombone at California State University, Northridge, Masters University in Santa Clarita, Pepperdine University, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California Lutheran University, and the University of California, Santa Barbara. Active in the area as a solo recitalist, he commissioned and premiered 11 works for solo trombone, trombone and piano, and appeared as a soloist with many ensembles in the Southland and Central Coast.
